Kathy's not-so-secret allegiance — the Fighting Irish loyalty that surfaces every few episodes, double-layered shirts and all.
Kathy is a devoted Notre Dame fan, and it comes up across the show — most memorably in the plastic-surgeon episode, where guest Dr. Rick Green turned out to be a “fellow Golden Dome” who marched in the Notre Dame band (clarinet — more field time than most of the players, and, by his telling, more than Rudy). The bonding was immediate.
Recurring details: Kathy showing up double-layered in Notre Dame gear (“in case you lose the outer layer, she’s got a backup underneath”), and the half-joking admission that out in the Pacific Northwest, the rivalry just doesn’t carry the same heat it does back East.
